About ETOW

Congratulations on choosing ETOW as your training provider. We are a small, local training provider with highly qualified teachers, experienced in delivering quality workplace programs; programs for high school students who are disengaged from learning; and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

The three staff members are partners in the organisation. Their qualifications and experience are outlined.

Read Anne's Bio

Anne Shortis is a highly qualified and experienced educator with over 25 years experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. As a Literacy/Numeracy teacher, she was awarded the Charles Sturt University (CSU) Elizabeth Bailey Memorial award for the most outstanding work in Adult Literacy Education, developing a successful Indigenous reading program. In 2012 she successfully completed a Masters in Education (Educational Leadership) through CSU. This course provided her with the skills to research and analyse training programs to continually improve outcomes.

Anne has had extensive experience in the development, management, and coordination of programs designed to meet specific industry needs. She was awarded the NSW Police Commissioner’s Certificate of Appreciation for exceptional performance in the development and implementation of IPROWD.

Anne has extensive experience in English as a Second Language (ESL), and in the management and coordination of these programs.

ETOW trainers, Cathy and Kerry, are highly qualified and experienced educators with over 40 years combined experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and schools. They have qualifications in education, adult education, literacy, TESOL, and the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Both trainers have extensive experience writing resources, (several published), and have been key trainers for the following industry based programs: Fletcher International ESL program, Country Energy Workplace Program, Corrective Services Pre Recruitment, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, NSW Police, NSW Health, FaCS, and NSW Regional Aboriginal Land Council. Key partnerships with these organisations were established to assist in the development and delivery of accredited and non-accredited training. Both trainers have been recognised for achievements in workplace training by being presented as runner up at the NSW Premier’s Award for the Indigenous Police Recruitment Out West Delivery (IPROWD) program, and awarded the NSW Police Commissioner’s Certificate of Appreciation for exceptional performance in the development and implementation of IPROWD.

As Literacy teachers, Cathy and Kerry have extensive experience teaching and developing programs for disengaged youth. Both are experienced mentors and educators who have made a significant contribution to positive youth employment and training outcomes in the local community.

Cathy and Kerry are currently teaching and mentoring on the Mulgabirra program, and are delivering the Transition to University Program for 80 Year 12 students. Both trainers are experienced and successful submission and grant writers with considerable expertise in document writing, editing and desktop publishing.
